ARTIST STATEMENT

“Branchwork” is an ongoing series of art jewellery that explores the fractal geometry of tree branches. The pieces take inspiration from the overlapping lines of branches and the negative spaces created between those branches. In the most recent brooches of this series, silver is used to create a minimalist essence of this artistic vision. The “Lacuna of Branches” brooches inverse the normal negative/positive spaces of branches, to allow the absent space between branches to become the main focal point. The silver sheet becomes what would have been absent space and allows us to see the fractal geometry of these hidden spaces differently than before.
