Size: 7x5mm, 8x6mm Colour: Peach Sunstone Cut: Hexagon Ethical Source: Oregon, USA by American Mined™ Rio Grande
Mined in the Pacific Northwest, this hexagon-cut American Mined™ Oregon Schiller Sunstone™ brings an unusual shape, an exciting orange/peach/pink color and a rich presentation of the sunstone's signature Schiller effect (shimmer) to all types of jewelry designs. Mined in Oregon, this sunstone displays an active aventurescence (another term for the Schiller effect) created by the presence of several metal elements caught within the crystalline structure. Set a single stone in a simple ring, match it with stones of similar or complementary colors, or use a pair to make earrings.
This variety of sunstone is a plagioclase feldspar composed of a mixture of calcium and sodium. The relative hardness of sunstone makes it best suited for jewelry items that do not see heavy wear, such as pendants, earrings or brooches.
The hexagon is cut is a modified brilliant featuring large facets and step cuts along the six equal sides of the girdle.
